Water Well Installation
Water & Sanitation
18 jan,2025
The Tube-Well Installation project provides sustainable access to safe drinking water for underserved communities across Bangladesh.
About This Project
Each tube well is drilled to reach suitable groundwater reserves, fitted with hand pump mechanisms, and designed to serve families who previously relied on unsafe water sources. The project follows rigorous technical standards to ensure water safety and minimize contamination risks.
Why This Project Matters
- Approximately 10,000,000 people across Bangladesh still lack access to safe drinking water.
- Waterborne diseases remain a leading cause of illness in rural areas.
- Women and children spend hours daily fetching water from distant sources.
- Contaminated water sources (including arsenic) pose severe health risks.
- Clean water access directly impacts health, education, and economic productivity.
Project Goals
- Providing permanent, safe drinking water sources to disadvantaged communities.
- Reducing waterborne diseases and health risks.
- Easing the daily burden of water collection, particularly for women and children.
- Ensuring each well serves approximately 200 people.
- Building disaster-resilient infrastructure that serves communities for decades.
Who Will Benefit
- Rural families lack access to safe water.
- Religious institutions (mosques and madrasas) require clean water for ablution.
- Widows, the elderly, and disabled individuals who are unable to travel long distances for water.
- Children who miss school due to water-related illnesses or collection duties.
- Entire communities in flood-prone, arsenic-affected, or drought-vulnerable areas.
